I am having this exact same problem. My Palm hotsynch no longer worked after upgrading from WinME to WinXP home version. I tried to reinstall both from the original disk, and from the PalmOne desktop program you can download from the PalmOne site....and get this same exact error with both. I'm pretty sure it is a registry problem, and I can find lots of similar errors dealing with administrative tools in the registry. But this is the only place I can find the specific error that I'm getting.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help!
I recently upgraded a Dell Optiflex with XP from 98 running 128 MB of memory. The machine had Palm One Zire software installed. When I upgraded to XP the pc no longer connected with the handheld or vice versa. I tried to uninstall and I get the error message error 1606.. Could not access network location "Documents and Settings\default\send to" When I try to install I get the same message.
What can I to to get the PC to recognize the Zire again. OR
How can I safely delete the Palm software to reinstall?
PS I also changed the USB plug on the PC to a different one.
