trying to open an image but nothing is working

by valcor82 / February 2, 2009 4:03 AM PST

Hi there! I have some older images that I'm trying to get to open. They were originally saved on a Mac Floppy. I tried a few Macs and a few PCs, but none of the programs anywhere are recognizing whatever type of file it is. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can figure out the type of image file they are so I can get them to open (there are only 4 images, but we'd really like to be able to get to them)?? Help?!? Thanks!

Yeah, I did try that program. But when I try to open up my image through IrfanView I keep getting the message: "Unknown file format or file not found!" Is there another way to open an image through this program that might work? Thanks!

I'm not sure what format they were in when saved to the floppy. I thought they would have just being a .jpg, but that is apparently not correct. I was hoping there was a program that could identify the format, since I've tried a handful of various extensions to try to get it to work.

That appears to be a Quark Express file.

It's not unlike a Word document file. You only open it in the matching application.

Have them produce a file that is a standard.

But you didn't share the following.

What Quark?
What error message? Hint: Use "quotes" so we can see that message.
