Because of this your best bet is to get an IDE enclosure, put the old drive in it, and plug that into a USB port.

Good luck.
Ok so I have a hard drive I pulled from a Dell comp that died on my yrs ago and saved with the intent of trying to eventually connect it to my current comp to pull some files off: music, photos, ect
I finally got around to doing this and realized the connections are different from my old cord and mother drive and current. So my question is first off am I even able to connect the older drive into my current computer and if so then what kind of connector/cord do I need.
The hard drive is a WD200 and it looks like it has a 40-pin connection on the back. The computer im trying to connect to is a Dimension E520 with original motherboard. I cant figure out what type of connection it has on it or if its even how I would hook it up
If anyone could lead me to what I need to buy or if this is even doable then it would be appreciated.
