If this is complete refurbishment and you do not have anything installed yet, see if the place where you purchased the unit will help. Otherwise, do a "Repair installation" over the OS, assuming it is the same OS as what is on there already. If the laptop is a major brand, they often will have a recovery partition that will do that for you, after entering the right menu. More info on the laptop like: make, model OS etc, please.
I recently bought a refurbished laptop to replace my desktop and have been having trouble getting it online. I have cable internet and thought that I could easily transfer my account info to my new laptop, but this hasnt been the case. I even had a technician from my ISP come to my home and he said that some administrative settings were blocking his attempts to enter/transfer my IP address. I have a purchased copy of Windows XP, would you recommend that I do a dynamic install? People buy new machines all the time, isn't there an easy way to get it online without having to open a new account with an ISP?
Thanks for any advice.
