Hi superslam2,I recently purchased an IBM T22 ThinkPad
to complement my desktop PC.At present I use a dial-up modem, which I was able to transfer to the IBM for 24 hrs and then found that I had lost internet acess on my desktop.I was obliged to reinstate the connection to the desktop.I am unsure as to the status of your cable connection in the US,I live in England, although I am sure ISP's are the same worldwide in being able to identify indvidual PC's and not being prepared to allow multiple connections for one fee.It might be worth asking your provider what there view is on this.
Regards Tinkeramn.
I recently bought a new emachines laptop. It has all of the necessary modem ports, 802.11g built in- its a nice budget machine. My problem is that I can't get it to go online. I use a cable connection at home and thought that I could simply take the cable modem cord out of my desktop and plug it into my laptop- doesnt work. I hope I don't need to pay an additional monthly fee to get my laptop online. The control panel shows the connection to be working properly, but it still doesnt work. Don't know if I gave enough info, but any help would be appreciated.
