Trying to gain access to website

Apr 13, 2011 2:03PM PDT

I am trying to gain access to www.ctv.ca to view shows, but I cannot retrieve this website. I have operating system Windows Vista, which a friend of mine also has and she can retrieve this website but I can only retrieve part of the website and cannot view the entire website. I have tried several things to gain access but nothing..is helping..Please help, thank you.

I can get the web site to load, but
Apr 13, 2011 8:38PM PDT

no videos.

It's a Canadian site and I am in the UK. That might be a reason I can't watch the videos. Error message;

"Sorry, there was an error
We are experiencing temporary difficulties downloading your lineup. Please wait another few seconds and try again if you're still having problems.

Thanks for your patience
".

That, 'error downloading my lineup' may be because of my location.

You say you can get to the web site so nothing is blocking you there. But which parts can't you see?

Website is loading..
Apr 13, 2011 9:32PM PDT

After hours, of working on two laptops..my only result now is that I can get the website to load but it continues to be very slow..stopping at times..as if to recharge itself. I also tried www.cbc.com and get the same result. I actually uninstalled my virus protector.trying to get it to work..It is so frustrating knowing someone else gets the shows and I cant. I have no TV..so it would be nice. Good Luck, perhaps someone has an answer for us.

Tell us more
Apr 14, 2011 5:00AM PDT

Hi again.

Tell us more about your system. Also which browser, and does this happen if you use another browser? What type of internet connection do you use, eg dial-up, broadband, ASDL?

The browser you use, does it have any add-ons that might be slowing down the page loading? Which anti-virus are you using?

Hi, my one computer is an Acer bought April last year,3 GB memory intel core 250 GB DDD model 1410 the other is a Toshiba Satellite intel centrino 1 GB both have Windows Vista and I use for my connection, the Telus stick which is very slow 3G, both use Internet Explorer that are up to date. The anti virus is grisoft on both..I unintalled on the Toshiba the AVG to see if that was the problem and doesnot seem to be. I also downloaded iobit toolbox ran it and still no luck. I am hoping you can help me..as we speak my friend continues to call telling me of other people who have been able to get ctv.ca. eg. 2 members of a family in the same household have Vista and use Cogeco as their server. They use routers etc. thank you again..

Think it is the dial up connection
Apr 14, 2011 2:11PM PDT

I am thinking the problem I am having is with the dial up connection. I have tried everything..running iobit toolbox etc. does not seems to want to work. I can get part of the page ctv.ca but not the first part of the page which shows the SHOWS. I am going to Telus tomorrow and I will take my small Acer with me and try to get help from them also. The server is very slow..in fact with I go into another room other than my livingroom or kitchen..in my home the connection does not work. Thank you again..Any suggestions appreciated.
