trying to download ie8optimized tells me connection to serve

i am trying to re install ie explorer 8 after resettgin my computer due to installing ie9 Beta. This has completely screwed up my internet and all pages.
I am using Vista home edition

Don't install Beta versions unless you can sacrifice the machine on the format altar.

Try to uninstall ie9 from Control Panel. With the final version, this always worked. Not sure, however, about this beta version, of course.

and it rang a bell.

Another CNET poster recently installed IE9 Beta, and has just uninstalled it. The procedure isn't quite the same as for other IE versions. Users have to "Uninstall the Update".
