Question

trying to debug browser/wifi performance issue

Dec 23, 2014 3:09AM PST

Hello, I have 2 computers connected to the same cable wifi: an iphone and a laptop. The iphone is returning google search results in 1s but my laptop is returning google search results in 20+s when connected to the same cable wifi. However, my laptop browser returns google results in 1s in the following scenario:

* iPhone connected to cable wifi
* iPhone personal hotspot turned on
* laptop connected to iPhone wifi

However, my laptop connected directly to the cable wifi has the issue. Any idea what the issue might be and how to troubleshoot/fix?

Answer
Try it with a Live CD/DVD

Boot up Linux Mint from USB/CD/DVD and see what happens. No install needed.

BTW, just a few months ago my browser was being a slug too. I did the usual and reset the browser. I did NOT troubleshoot it. There are folk that want to troubleshoot it so I will let others cover that!

PS. For a test, try other DNS entries.
