Trying to add a new Context Menu Item...

Jun 28, 2010 1:58AM PDT

Hi there. I use MP3Tag a lot to edit my songs' metadata, so I was thinking of inserting a special link to MP3Tag directly in the context menu of Windows Explorer.

So I went into Folder Options>File Types, found the MP3 filetype and pressed Advanced after selecting it. Then I created a New action for it, and selected MP3tag's .exe to open the file with. After that I just saved the subsequent windows.

So now when I right click on any MP3, I can see the new item I added but when I click on it, I get the error "location_of_file_not_found". And I noticed that in this error, the location is shown only till the first word of the file's name. So there seemed like the problem was occuring beacause of improper file naming... So I tried this: I renamed a file to a single 1 word file and tried to use my new special context menu item and it worked.

So is there any way of getting around this instead of changing the names of each one of my song from the whole library? There is some prob with the file naming convention here, so if you have an idea to get around it, I'd be really grateful.

Thanx a lot! Grin

Problem Solved!
Jun 28, 2010 2:35AM PDT

Hi! This is just to let you know that the problem has been solved. After all it was a problem consisting wrong parameters used.

Inside Folder Options>Filetypes, I went into the MP3 filetype's Advanced section and edited the new menu item I had created and at the end of the location of the program to be opened I removed the default %1 parameter and instead placed the %L parameter; and it worked! Wonderful! Happy

Although, I don't AT ALL know what those parameters stand for! Silly The only thing is that the %L parameter was the correct one in this case.

Thanx for reading! Happy
