Trying Outlook Express

Apr 3, 2004 8:53AM PST

Giving up on Mozilla email and trying Outlook Express. How does one go about making Outlook the default email? There used to be a note that popped up to do so but it no longer pops up. Can someone point a path to where I can accomplish this tast?

And is there a way to import my address book from Mozilla to OE? Have tried for some time now but the import and export features on each program is lacking something and thus preventing me from doing the job. Any suggestions?

Making Outlook Express the default email.

In Internet Explorer, choose Tools>Internet Options, Programs tab. Then make Outlook Express your default (second box from above in IE5.5). If there is no Outlook Express to choose from (happens occasionally) go to Config Panel>Add/Remove Software, choose IE, then choose repair.

You don't tell much about what you tried for Export/Import. I can only point you to the Outlook Express import features. Tools>Address book to open the address book. Then File>Import. You can choose from a WAB-file, or business card (vcard) or another address book, to be chosen from several possibilities including Netscape Communicator. That sounds Mozilla-like.

Hope this helps,

Kees

Nondaj,

In addition to Kees' good information, see if you can "Export" the address book from Mozilla as a "Comma separated value" file. If so, then Outlook Express, can "Import" that "CSV" file as "Another Address Book".

Hope this helps.

Thanks to Kees for the path to change defaults. Worked very well for me. and Grif re your help - I began having so many problems with Mozilla the last one I could not overcome - the logo would come on when I tried to access Mozilla and I would have to shut my PC down to get rid of it completely. It got so frustrating that I just deleted Mozilla and retyped my addressed from pages where I had saved them long ago. The old fashioned way of saving still works on occasionsHappy So am back to normal and all is working well - for now that is.Happy Thanks again guys for your help.
