I think North Korea could say something comparable about rockets and nuclear bombs, with the same lack of concrete results.

For the ESL folks, that's a 3 Stooges wiseguy, not the Mafia kind.

capitulate
[kəˈpiCHəˌlāt]
VERB
cease to resist an opponent or an unwelcome demand; surrender.
What are ya' doin'?...adding another word to the story/your claim?
AND FOX NEWS, Reuters, China and DJT didn't say "capitulate".
PS :Trump on U.S.-China trade talks: 'Calm' is a very good word to use
"CALM"?.....A word China used first when talking about trade negotiations?
Update...someone did say would not "capitulate"....it was CHINA!
China has rejected accusations made by the United States of backtracking in trade talks and warned it would not "capitulate to any pressure" as the two sides head into make-or-break negotiations.

...may have more words than theirs does. I may also prefer to use a more appropriate term, considering the deficient state of journalism today.
"would not" capitulate.
RE: I may also prefer to use a more appropriate term,
So you took some journalist liberties?
Are you having any second thoughts?.....
TheRUMP is having lots of second thoughts. According to him.
You actually side track yourself by obsessing on single words, as if some relevant position, not always clear to others, can be established, but such always fails. If an argument is based solely on parsing words, it begins to fail at the outset.
Yet another liberty YOU have taken?
Declaring a winner? . There was a contest?...A drawing of a ticket?....A race?....A MMA match?
Your words...... jump out early against anything Trump does,
Others jump IN early and declare a winner.
RE: If an argument is based solely on parsing words,
Sorry, but words are ALL I have to go on(or maybe it's a blessing) I can't see your facial contortions when you are making your posts. Perhaps an emoticon would suffice.
May I suggest ![]()
PS: If an argument is based solely on parsing words,
THAT is how legal cases are won OR lost, parsing words......words that are written in the laws.

Just ask him.
Neither have you. Ditto.
With English Lit, actually.
"Possible negotiations" is all I get.
"Capitulation" is wishful thinking on the part of Trump and his followers.
I'm sticking to my original (sarcastic) post: "Easy to win."

Didn't I tell ya? Easy to win.
Oh, wait. Still talking, not winning as such.
Proof?
Trump....."Hereby orders"..... Trump's demand that US companies boycott China,
How do "Hereby Orders" compare to "Executive Orders"?
apparently Costco is not listening
Instead of leaving China, US retail giant Costco opened its first Chinese store in Shanghai on Tuesday. Consumers waited in long queue to get inside the store. Such a grand opening can't be seen in other places. Chinese market is crucial to American companies.
THEY have "chosen" not to listen to "The Chosen One" = PROOF
The Trumpettes should be cutting up Costco cards all across America. This will show how strong their beliefs are.
Show us Costco in your dictionary, wiseguy.
For the ESL folks ...
'I said lay off the Canadian digs!'

Trump is against unfair practices regarding Chinese imports to USA, he's in favor of equal trade, and Costco would be a win in his book.
just tariffs. Look how weather has butted into Trump's carefully laid plans this year.
IMO the intellectual property problem is more serious a threat, if the US is really that far ahead of the world in tech. But that doesn't get mentioned much any more. I suspect that's because it's much harder to crack, requiring negotiations.
"in his book"?....Of course it would. (lipstick on a pig?)
The TRUTH and TheRUMP are not synonymous.
IF he said it was a loss...HE would be admitting HE lost to China, AND American business disregarding HIS "Hereby Order".
Wait and see what/if anything HE says about Costco opening in China.
Costco(and others) have already made their feelings known on tariffs
600 companies including Walmart, Costco and Target warn Trump on tariffs
American retailers, manufacturers and tech companies warned President Donald Trump on Thursday that tariffs on China will damage the US economy, lead to job losses and harm millions of consumers.
More than 600 companies and industry trade associations — including Walmart, Costco, Target, Gap, Levi Strauss and Foot Locker — wrote to the White House urging Trump to remove levies on China and end the ongoing trade war.
"We know firsthand that the additional tariffs will have a significant, negative, and long-term impact on American businesses, farmers, families, and the US economy," the companies said in the letter. "An escalated trade war is not in the country's best interest, and both sides will lose
YOU want the US to capitulate to the Chinese tariffs that have already been in existence for decades! Nice to know where your loyalties and concept of "fair trade" lies.
With a Costco membership?
Along with approx 90 MILLION other Americans?
Just seen an ad on Costco Travel....Plugging a Stay at Trump International Hotel Waikiki
IF Costco disobeyed MY "Hereby Order". I'd remove THAT ad from the Costco site.

When you have visitors you can take them on a tour of Costco.....let them buy stuff on YOUR card....They spend their money....you get a percentage of the money they spend yearly.
Maximum of 2 other people per visit.
It could be a nice little business opportunity....YOU buy a membership and have a few big spenders a day...end of the year you reap the profits....While THEY are shopping YOU can have a 99¢ Costco hot dog. Saves you from buying wieners by the dozen(in bulk)
It doesn't mean you have to use it in bulk(all at once)....Saves trips to the store?
Especially in case of a hurricane....
Costco Pumpkin Pies are one of my favourites in the Fall...1 pie lasts 2 weeks....
Check out the size of the Costco muffins....
such as Cosco, Walmart, Target, et al don't have any intellectual property that China can steal or insist be given up in order to be doing business in that country. None of them manufacture anything, which is why I don't think American people and Trump have a problem with them having stores over there.
It's good that you and I remember the intellectual property issue. Trump doesn't, even if that was the only bipartisan, unarguable part of the original tantrum.
Also the only one that can affect his country's security. The rest is simply the March of Empires, beyond anyone's control.
Remember when Huawei's equipment and firmware was a security threat to the "free world"? Still is, but Huawei's status is reduced to bargaining chip. I guess we're safe now, right?
