5 Reasons the Trump Immigration Plan Doesn’t Pass the Reality Test

Constitutionality. Immigration experts looking at Trump’s plan point out that the real estate mogul’s proposal to force more than 12 million people across the U.S. border faces massive legal hurdles. One of highest is that many of the deportees – U.S.-born children of undocumented immigrants -- are actually U.S. citizens.

“He’s incoherent and probably doesn’t know what he’s saying,” said attorney Cesar Vargas, co-director of the Dream Action Coalition, which advocates for illegal immigrants. “You can’t deport a citizen…. What he’s suggesting is the kind of ‘self-deportation’ that Mitt Romney advocated for. You’re indirectly deporting the U.S. citizen as well because they have to follow their parents.”

I guess Trump could get SCOTUS to re-write the Constitution.

Actually, the author is wrong

There really aren't that many illegals with children born here and those could be dealt with on a case by case basis....

The vast majority are single, married without children, criminals, and people who have overstayed their visas.............rent a bus or charter a plane and take them en masse back to where they came from. It's a whole lot cheaper than continuing to support most of them over long term.

Well YOU claim in YOUR post

when there are CHILDREN in the home, and we all know that a good many of those children have illegals for parents..

And NOW you claim

here really aren't that many illegals with children born here

So there aren't as many "anchor babies" as Trump AND you are crying about in YOUR OP

RE: The vast majority are single, married

100% of them are either single or married.

Typical liberal...don't bother to finish the entire sentence

in order to put your spin on it.......I SAID "single, married withOUT children"

Liberals are the ONLY ones spouting that every illegal has children born in the US and should be given free status as a pathway to citizenship. I argued with FACTS regarding the makeup of illegals.

And, to be honest, even the majority of 'visitors' who come here to have babies born here are actual Chinese, not Hispanics. They don't stay most of the time once the kid is born....they just want a 'backup' plan in place in case something bad happens in China.

EVERYONE on the planet is either "single or married"...So what has marital status got to do with anything, Given that a person can still be the "father or mother" of a child whether they are married or not.

Since you've tried to 'cover all the bases" the only group you've "left out" is "married WITH children" And a VAST majority covers every other group...there is only a "small group" left.

So why were people screaming over "Anchor Babies"?

good many of those children have illegals for parents.

AND

The vast majority are single, married without children, criminals, and people who have overstayed their visas.

A "good many of those children have illegals for parent" AND a "vast majority have no children"

the problem is illegals

How anyone can believe a non citizen can give birth in this country and that makes them a citizen is beyond me and I believe beyond what the intent was when this country was founded. The child of an illegal should also be illegal due to his parent's status at the time of his birth. The true understanding of the Constitution would be any child born to a CITIZEN within this country would automatically be a citizen of this country. This concept of anchor babies is just another perversion by SCOTUS some time in the past.
