1080 comes in several flaviors.
1080i/60 fields/30 frames persecond.
1080p/24 frames persecond.
1080p/30 frames per second.
1080p/60 frames per second.
The only 1080p I have seen is 24fps.
Digital HDTVs (LCD, plasma, DLP, LCoS) have a native resoultion. A DLP/LCoS set that has a native resoultion of 1080i(1980x1080)will rescale 720p to 1080i.
A HDTV with a native resoultion of 720p(1280x720) will rescale a 1080i to 720p. This is the digital world.
Sony is over flowing with tech specs on there products.

I am considering purchasing a new DLP or the Sony SXRD. I read that there are only a few TVs that can handle true 1080, that don't just convert the signal. I also read that the PS3 will have 1080 capablities. Will a TV that can not handle true 1080 signals be able to handle this from the PS3 or will the rest of the field be able to convert the signal?
