The 980 is not known to like split rail PSUs and the parts look a little dated. 980's are rarely new today.
Maybe you meant new to you build out of old parts?
As to the buddy's OP if you are pirating you may get a locked discussion.
My pc that I completed yesterday started to freeze. It last approximately 11 minutes from start up, before it freezes and requires a restart. Windows 10 pro 64-bit Intel(used a friend's copy, yes I know that could definitely be the root of the problem) Core i5-4690k CPU@ 3.50GHZ, 8.0GB ram, NVIDIA GTX 980, MID B150 Gaming M3 Motherboard 8gb of ddr3 ram, dark rock pro 3 cpu cooler 1tb wd blue HD 250gb Samsung ssd.I think the hardware is good, but software is most likely messing up, because I used my buddy's op, it would have to have similar hardware and firm ware to drive my desktop. You think my set up is freaking out when it gets to a certin code? Also whats the best solution if that is what happened? Wipe it clean by benching it and piggy backing with another computer? Or open up all the start up protocols and try to isolate the code that is freeking out, di you think it could be something simple like its tryng to turn on fan but firm ware is not compatible so it freaks out?
