The first thing to try is to recharge the battery.

Is it just the zoom, or does the lens fail to extend when you power-on the camera?

Are you getting an error message?

If it is the zoom, is it stuck in the zoom position or the no-zoom position?

Does the camera work otherwise?

The camera is working

The camera is working and when you turn it on and off the lens goes in and out. It was dropped and could be the explanation why the zoom is not working. The button which you use to zoom where you turn it does move, but the lens just does not zoom, but does close when the power is turned on and off. The battery is charged and there is no error message. So just the zoom is the problem.

Usually, a dropped camera will have problems when it tries to extend/retract the lens.

The problem you are having is probably a broken switch or wire.

I have not heard of anyone who has taken one of those cameras apart. Sounds like a job for a professional.
