Trouble with sound

by Robyn / May 6, 2004 10:04 AM PDT

Hi. I just reinstalled Windows 98SE, done by a professional. When I tried to open my website, I noticed that my WAV sound on the site was not working. I just thought that something went wrong and I redid the sound to the site, I used HTML. But when I tried it again, still no sound, so I went on two other computers and pulled up my site and the sound works fine on them. Could there be something from the reinsatll that was done differently then what I had before.

Pop on over to Sound Properties and report if you have a sound device installed. My guess is you are lacking drivers.

Hi, I am soooo sorry, when I wrote I had no sound, I meant, the sound on the website. I have sound on the computer. Just when I go to the website, the WAV sound does not come up. I had put it on the site with the <EMBED src script, you know using HTML. What I was wondering is when they reinsalled 98 is there any settings that you check off so you can use HTML, Java whatever.

OOOOK, then try this. While your browser is open go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Multimedia and put a check mark in "Play Sounds in Webpages". Apply and OK.

Try toggling the setting by unchecking it, apply and OK then recheck it and apply and OK.

To work this issue. Make/model of computer and sound card is needed.

Microsoft doesn't support many cards, so we get to figure it out.

How about some additional information?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
