I have a Sony handicam DCR TRV17. I'm trying to make some recordings in an airplane (Cessna).
I put the camera on a tripod, but for sound I want the intercom input along with the cabin noise.
The intercom allows the watcher to hear the pilot, passengers and ATC talking and the cabin sounds include engine sound, etc.
Since I have a stereo input I used a stereo mini plug to dual RCA adaptor, one is attached to a cheap but effective unpowered mic and the other is plugged into one of the plane's audio jacks, where a passenger would sit.
The problem is that on playback the audio from the intercom is very low, too low to really fix easily in iMovie. The mic appears to work OK.
Do I need a matching transformer; or a preamp? Has anybody tried something like this in a car perhaps?
Thanks for any help
