Trouble with Mozilla.

Feb 22, 2005 11:00AM PST

When I attempt to load a web page rarely does Mozilla work. Nearly all the time I receive an Alert! "The document contains no data." I have searched the Mozilla site and learned that Panda wich I do not have can some how cause this. Also that clearing the Internet Cash can fix this but did not. Also read many posts regarding this particular problem with no solutions.

I read alot of IE bashing here at CNET forums and alot of hype about Mozilla wich has usually been nothing but trouble for me. Find myself right back at IE, and occasionally Netscape.

Sorry for rambling-on. After reading so much talk-up regarding Mozilla I expected more from Mozilla, it's Help site and Community Forum.

If some one could help me fix this
Alert! "The document contains no data." problem I'd appreciate it.

Running Windows ME, NAV 2002,
Sygate Personal Firewall (Mozilla application allowed).

Thanks. Have a great day.

For you...

It appears that Mozilla is not a good answer. While I rarely see this issue, I do see some out of date OS and that old NAV 2002. From memory NAV 2002 has no updates anymore. Could be the reason, but let's face the music. Support has never been so bad.

I had a machine that didn't run Firefox.

I found how to fix it by watching the event viewer. Turns out I needed to manually delete the Mozilla directory and install it again. I'm unsure how widespread this issue is. But not all machines run all programs. I know of no cure for that.

Thanks for reporting back.

This must be that rare issue. I've personally run into it twice now and I think maybe you're the second report out there for a grand total of four...

At least you've cured it.

IE 6 cured
Mar 2, 2005 4:13AM PST

Did the following and inspite of the "failiers" the problem with IE 6 is now fixed.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type one of the following commands, and then click OK (copy and paste is your best friend):

regsvr32 softpub.dll ........Succeded
regsvr32 wintrust.dll .......Succeded
regsvr32 initpki.dll ........Succeded
regsvr32 dssenh.dll .........Succeded
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll .........Succeded
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll ..........Failed
regsvr32 sccbase.dll .........Failed
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll ..........Failed
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll ........Succeded

4. Click OK when you receive the message that says DllRegisterServer in FileName succeeded.

5. Repeat for each command line listed above

How do you do this?
Mar 3, 2005 5:40AM PST

Hi, I am having the same "Document contains no data" problem. I removed Mozilla using Add/Remove Programs from control panel and removed the remaining directory from Program Files. Then I reinstalled.

This didn't help. When I reinstalled it, it kept my old settings, so it seems like I am missing something somewhere. I still get the Document contains no data error.

Any ideas?

In this discussion I noted " I had a machine that didn't run Firefox. " where I note a manual deletion of a certain directory. It appears you missed that discussion.

Any more details?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I was just wondering from where exactly you deleted the directory. I removed the Mozilla directory from Program Files, then reinstalled it, but that didn't solve the problem. I was wondering if you had deleted it from a different location or if I had missed any residual components of the browser. Any additional comments about how you deleted the directory would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

here on this page You will want to backup or export your bookmarks first. To export go to the bookmarks manager > file > export. It saves as a html file then import when you get it reinstalled.
