trouble with installing quicktime 7.2

I bought an acer notebook and I wanna install quicktime 7.2 but when i start the instalation ,I tells me that there is a newer version already installed ,by the way when I go to apple's website and open a video in a quicktime extentions it tells me to install quicktime and there is no quicktime installed in my computer .. So What 2 do ??

I will give an attemp here.

Go to "search" for files and folders, then type in "quicktime". Delete any file/s that shows up.

Next, go to "run" and type in "regedit"; this will take you to the registery. In the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT; delete all reference to "qt" but double check it is reference to quicktime. Also on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>software>Apple Computer>quicktime. if it is there delete it.
