No google support I know of would remote in. You were right to pull the plug. That was a scam.
As to your old account, forget it ever happened and make a new one. Then be sure to use it's password recovery systems. I have it set so it can text me on my phone and use my second email account.
I am having trouble signing into my Google account when I try I get the usual request for password etc but any password I but in is rejected now if I could speak to a human I would have it cleared up in no time, however, any password I put in doesn't work even if I have just changed it I am fed up with Google and if there was a safe way to delete the account I would, I could start again but I am sure this would effect all sorts of thing, I did contact support but ended up spending time on a chat line (2hours) only to be told that the gentleman wanted to change my email address and install some software on my computer and charge me a lot of money so I struggle on there must be some way of getting help I know Google are trying to automate everything but a human or two wouldn't hurt
