Question

Trouble with external DVD drive

Nov 28, 2011 10:40PM PST

I have recently purchased a Sony Optiarc ad-7261s DVD burner. I've connected it to my Mac G4 running 10.4.11 via a SATA to USB adapter from a USB 2.0 PCI card. When powered up the tray comes out and stays out. If a disc is inserted, it won't read the disc, but will tray in for a few seconds, then tray out. There are no Mac drivers available, but the documentation indicates that it is compatible with 10.4.9 and above. I've even re-installed the PCI card driver. Any ideas? Thank you.

Did you go under the mac menu and pull up the system report, and under burning did it show the burner? (under mac and get about this mac, then click on the more info. get a lot of info?.)
