Trouble with Downloads

Mar 21, 2007 2:40AM PDT

I attempted to download Opera 9.1 only to get no response. There is no Desktop Icon, no Quick Link, nothing! The Download manager for the site tells me that the Download was successful but I do not see it. I cannot even find the program on my computer. I have had more trouble with VISTA since I got the stupid thing. Any suggestions? No, blowing up my computer is not an option.

?Try different browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox...
?Turn off anti-virus.
?Links: Google for Opera 9.1 downloads - you will probably find "download.com", "filehippo", "PC World"..and the Opera site. BTW, do you have problems downloading other programs ?

When I click on the link, it just takes me back to the "Download" site. Then the cycle starts all over again.

Two things...

1.) Have you tried downloading to another location? the default is the Downloads folder in Documents, but it may have been changed, so try selecting a download location instead of simply clicking OK.

2.) Click here to try downloading from Cnet's download.com. I attempted to download Opera 9.1 from their official website and IE initially blocked it out of a security concern, so trying another source may be the key.

Let us know.

P.S. There shouldn't be a desktop icon, quick link, etc. until after it is installed...downloading it just places the installer on your computer, which you must then launch. The only exception is if you click Run instead of Save when presented with the download options. Did you actually select Run or otherwise launch the installer? if so, it's an installation issue, not a download issue.

Thank you

John,

The following link was given to me:

The Opera 9.1 is on a "Watch List." I am guessing that it is being updated and that the new version is not available. This may be why it has not installed. I am not even given an option to install it in another file as you suggested. If I right click, it does not offer that option. I really appreciate your help. Thank you very much.
