I recently bought a Toshiba A215-S4807 with a built-in Chicony web cam. When I first started the computer, it seemed to work fine. However, a few days later, when I looked at it again, the video would appear for a couple seconds and then disappear.
I looked online for solutions and I found two: Run it in Windows 95/XP compatibility mode or update the camera's drivers to Microsoft's USB Video Device driver.
The first one didn't work. The second one never worked as the solutions said they should. I have a feeling it's because those people were having problems when they upgraded to Vista Ultimate while I'm having these problems on a Vista Home Premium.
I did try installing Windows, and it did work. Both Trillian and Yahoo! Messenger recognized it and people were able to view my web cam. I thought it was settled.
I try again last night and both say they don' recognize a camera and the video appearing for a few seconds problem returned.
Anybody have any idea on what to do? Thanks.
