Trouble with Blu-Ray HDMI Connection

Sep 17, 2010 4:55AM PDT

I have a Samsung LE37C530F1WXXU 1080p HD just recently purchased along with a Samsung 1080p Blu-Ray player BD-P1580. I have connected the TV to the Blu-Ray with two different (just in case the first cable was faulty) HDMI cables and on all 3 HDMI ports the TV says no signal. The Blu-Ray player also continues to says LOAD instead of No-Disc when i turn it on. I have followed Samsungs troubleshooting guide to no avail. The 2nd HDMI cable I bought is a high-speed cable meaning it can function at 1080p no problem, but still the problem remains. The Blu-Ray player refuses to show the HDMI symbol, and i cannot access the Blu-Ray menu because i obviously cannot see the screen. Help would be appreciated please as I spent

pearsey,

Have you tried connecting the player with the AV composite (yellow video) cable to your TV first? In some cases, you may need to change the resolution to 720p or higher the first time using the player. Then switch over to your HDMI source to see if you're able to see the menu.

Hello Samsung HD Tech,

Yes i have tried an AV cable there and had no luck again. The Blu-Ray player refuses to send out a signal to the TV from any port whatsoever. When i switch the player on, it just says ON and then LOAD and refuses to do anything else. I'm pretty furious with it altogether lol!

pearsey,

I can appreciate the frustration.

Unfortunately, the only recommendation I would have would be to have the unit serviced. If it's not sending any signals out through any of the ports or holding a connection, it will likely have to be inspected and fixed.

If you're in the U.S., you can call 800-SAMSUNG or fill out an online service request form. I'm sorry, but there's not much I can offer with that specific symptom.

cheap and nasty

Not a new thread, I know, just discovered it while trying to find out why I am having problems with my BDP1580; clearly samsung is not admitting something.
I have a BDP1580 connected to a P2470HD Syncmaster. The Player is less than a year old, rarely used, and only with bona fide media.
Previously it was connected to a phillips 42inch with 1080i res, initially direct HDMI connection and later via Sony AV reciever. Never had a problem, apart from the noisy start and relatively slow loading time.
Recently purchased the Syncmaster for another room and decided to team it up with the BDP1580. Had nothing but grief since. All the symptoms - distorted or frozen video/audio output, device locking up and freezing on 'load', reported in this forum and others are not resolved by reset, network update or changing HDMI leads. Changing to component connection cable makes no difference.
The fact that this seems to have occurred on a fairly wide scale suggests that either Samsung firmware or hardware is at fault, since that is the common denominator.
I suspect they will not admit to an inherent defect as it would mean an expensive product recall.
