Be careful about resyncing such since the sync may not show up on our VCD in the DVD player.
I will not offer any step by step support or much else but share that I have used VIRTUAL DUB to split the audio video streams and then rejoin them and use Virtual Dub to advance or delay the audio to get a better sync.
However today I find little interest in making a VCD since DVD media fell to such low prices here. All I need is a backup copy of my dvd for a roadtrip so only pirates seem to be unduly interested in shrinking to VCD which these forums don't help with.
Can I ask one question? Since we have google.com and a few hundred web sites about DVD shrinking and more, why not avail yourself of all that knowledge?

Ok, so I've tried darn near everything for ripping my dvd's and converting them to vcd, svcd, xvid avi, etc.
Every time I finish a job and then open the movie file the audio and video are not in sync and the video is either in little bursts of fast motion or in chopping blocks (like 10 or 11 frames per second kind of thing - really annoying).
The only time that the video is smooth and the audio matches up is when i do a vcd conversion. the quality of vcd sucks though and i don't want to use that.
what i want to do is shrink a dvd that is bigger than 4.7gb down to an svcd format and burn it onto one cd. even better would be to get some of them down to 700 to 800 mb so i can keep some of the classics all on one dvd.
any advice? i'm losing lots of sleep over this!!
thanks,
