Question

Trouble logging in and posting. What's wrong

Aug 4, 2013 12:41PM PDT

I am trying to post a few questions on laptop battery usage. However, I cannot log in using the right side of the log in screen (adding e-mail nd password). I can only get in using the left side of the screen and my Facebook account.

Once I'm on your site and I am ready to submit my post, I receive the comment that I can only use standard an English keyboard. I am only using an English keyboard with letters and symbols, including numbers/lists, parentheisis and symbols using the keyboard and shift, such as the percent sign.

The only time I've ever had problems is when used the asterix another time. What symbols should i exclude? Using a numbered list makes the post easier to navigate.

Any help will be appreciated.

Facebook account
Aug 6, 2013 10:46AM PDT

Maybe I wasn't clear in my first paragraph. (Sorry!) I was able to finally log on by using my Facebook account instead of my CNet account.

No need to apologize for the delay, Lee. It's been a hectic day for me too!

I tried to repost my original question that contains a numbered list, but I still received the message that CNet only recognizes English keyboards. Do you think copying and pasting a message from my notepad/Word and trying to post it could be the problem? I didn't use any symbold, odd keys or wingdings.

Ahhh the copy and paste is the problem...

If you are using the visual editor, don't copy and paste content into the submission form, that presents a problem as the Word doc is embedded with a bunch of code that get translated into the submission form. If you do a copy and paste, do not use the visual editor. I would suggest copying and pasting the content with the visual editor off, then turn on the visual editor for tweaks. That should solve the issue.

Give it a try in the test forum and see if that works for you.

Cheers!

BTW I hope your week does get better.

Answer
Other steps I've tried...

I've tried using Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. I don't dare use Internet Explorer due to bad past experiences. I have also tried disabling my Adblock.
