Trouble Installing Wireless Router

Feb 23, 2010 12:41AM PST

Hi guys, I'm new and have questions. I bought a new Linksys Wireless N Router for my sister to hookup to her Windows XP System. The problem I came across is with the cable modem. The router directions showed a LAN and WAN port in the modem, but the modem my sister has only has an Ethernet and USB port. Can you tell me the easiest way to hook this up?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Modem via Ethernet to router WAN using crossover cable (that now connects the modem to the one PC).
Router LAN (4 ports probably) Ethernet to 4 PC's using patch cable (straight through cable).

For one PC only, you don't need a router. Just connect the modem to the PC, using either the Ethernet or the USB.
