Trouble installing Internet Explorer for Mac

Oct 10, 2007 2:40AM PDT

I downloaded IE for Mac from this site, but when I try to install it, I get the a message saying that there is no default application specified to open the document. Does anyone know what to do next?

One should avoid installing Internet Explorer for Mac onto any machine.

IE for Mac is an obsolete piece of software that is not supported by MS and has not been updated for a considerable number of years. I doubt it would even display a lot of websites today.

The probable reason for the error message you received is that the downloaded file was incomplete, corrupt, the wrong one for your system or is BinHexed and you don't have an application to undo it.

The lack of information about your computer and its operating system does not help either.

Please supply information about your machine, see the Red note at the top of each post, and the version of IE you downloaded. Also the site you downloaded it from. You did not download it from here.

Once we have that information, we can begin to find out why you are having problems.

Yes. I was attempting to fill out forms on specific web sites that do not work with Safari or Firefox. I downloaded Netscape and was able to use it successfully on one site, but the other web form still didn't work, even though they suggested using Netscape (I guess it's PC only).
