Question

Trouble getting sound through monitor

I recently bought an ACER monitor to hook up to PS3 for a cheap way to get 1080 graphics and while the picture is great I cannot figure out a way to get speakers hooked up to it. The PS3 hooks into the monitor through HDMI and the only other ports I have on the PS3 are AV multi out and a digital. The monitor really does not have anything I could see that could be hooked into. Is there any way to make this set-up get sound, I will buy a reciever if I have to, I just want to make sure that would work first, or if their is another way.
