Trouble for logging in!

This problem occurred suddenly this morning. I finished a session with my Gateway laptop computer but Windows kept on saying that an update was ready and that the computer needed to restart for the update to be in effect. So I turned the computer off. I came back a couple hours later, and I tried to click on my profile in the login screen to log me into my user profile. This message came up: ?Windows cannot load locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile? followed by ?Cannot find the local profile. Logging on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.? Then it logs me on to this completely different profile with none of my previous applications and none of my documents. I don?t know what?s wrong! What should I do?

Tried Using System Restore Yet?

In reply to: Trouble for logging in!

Click on Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore.. When the System Restore window opens, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time", then at the next "Calendar" page, select a "bold" date which is before the time of the problem.. Click on "Next" and follow the prompts to restore back to a time when things were good.

Hope this helps.

try the system restore in safe mode while logged in as the administrator (which will be available in safe mode).
