Trouble "Error Message" Installing Microsoft Office 2003

Nov 23, 2004 11:24PM PST

After rebooting my computer because Windows would not load, with the recovery disc sent with my computer, now Microsoft Office programs will not open. All the files are in C\Windows\Startmenu\Programs\MicrosoftWord.ink
I keep on getting the following error messages:
"This application must be installed to run. Please run setup from the location where you originally installed the application"

When I double click on the folder in the C drive I get the error message " The managed software installer failed to install the program associated with this file"

Not very clear.

ItalyJack,

I understand you reinstalled Windows (what version, 95, 98, ME, XP?) from the recovery CD, presumably because of some error you couldn't solve otherwise. Was Microsoft Office included on that CD? If so, it should run, or something is wrong with the recovery CD. In that case, contact the maker for instructions.

If MS Office was not included on the CD run Setup from the MS Office install CD to reinstall it (possiby first uninstall). However, first try repair.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding. Yes because of a problem. Microsoft Office was not on the recovery cd. I installed it seperately from a cd. When I try to reinstall from the RUN-open box D:\setup.exe with the cd in the D drive I get:
Cannot find the file "D:\setup.exe(or one of its components). Make sure the path and file name are correct and that all required libraries are avaiable?

I am not too good at understanding this stuff Thanks

Italyjack,

Have a look at the cd in Windows Explorer or My Computer, to see what files are on the cd. Then run the program that looks most like setup.exe by double-clicking on it. I can't see it from here.

The times of MS-DOS where you had to type in the name of a program are long gone.

Hope this helps.
