Trouble deleting a movie file

Feb 9, 2004 10:07AM PST

Hi,

I have a mpg file and it wont let me delete it, keeps telling me its in use by a program, however it is clearly not as no program is open to run it. In addition I restarted the computer and made sure that no programs were coming up at start up through msconfig. Still it would not let me delete it.

Any Help Appreciated, Thanks,
Marc

Was the file created by you ? Or did it come with Windows--if so, what is the name ?

The P2P network software such as Kazaa lives on after the uninstall. You are hampering others in not revealing the P2P software, but after you eject all the Pests and Parasites, it usually can be deleted.

Wish I could be more specific, but that's left to when the P2P in question is revealed.

Fixed the problem, needed to unload the windows shmedia.dll .

A Divx and other file issue.

The bug is in that DLL and while we could discuss the Microsoft'isms about why this happens, the simple open the command prompt and delete it there does work with losing the shmedia tool.
