Question

Trouble Deciding Which Laptop to Purchase

Apr 13, 2017 9:00AM PDT

I had my eye on two different laptops, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out which one I should get. Would anyone be willing to help me out? One thing to note: The ASUS is $200 cheaper than the MSI (open box deal in my area).

MSI 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 1TB Hard Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive Black GE62VR APACHE PRO-086 - Best Buy

Asus 17.3" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 1TB Hard Drive + 128GB Solid State Drive Black GL702VM-BHI7N09 - Best Buy

Very different machines.

If you are a student, you get the 15 inch. If you want to set it on a desk for 99.99% of the time, then the 17 inch is fine.

However I'd get the MSI because of RAM and SSD.

Thank you!

I meant to link them in the post, guess I failed.
MSI

ASUS

Is the extra RAM and SSD worth that amount of money? Just curious. I was also kinda wondering about the brands themselves, I was told MSI tends to have better speakers, and perhaps better screens. Thank you for your time, by the way Happy

My nod is still to the MSI.

Answer
I would take the Asus

because both have a data drive of 1 TB. You still get the advantage of the OS loading faster with the 128 GB SSD. I noticed when I upgraded from 8 gb to 12 gb of ram a noticable difference and then when I went to 16 gb I really didn't notice much difference. So i like big screen laptops. So the 200 difference would be worth it to me. But to each their.

hi there,
i suggest you should go to MSI as it has better Ram and power.
But Asus will be cheaper than MSI for sure.
and Asus also provide the 3-year warranty on some of its products also.
