Trouble changing printer driver on Xerox 8560N

Can't figure this one out. New Xerox 8560N printer, having big trouble changing to a PS (post script) driver. Installed software, then plugged printer to USB port, Win7 took over and it installed regular driver. The printer will print fine with this set-up. Problem comes up in trying to install a PS driver. Have tried from the CD wizard, web based Xerox utility and thru device mgr in Win7. All three methods show a new printer in Control Panel/Devices & Printers. To be clear, after each attempt, I remove device and try again... Trying to print to this new PS printer results in no output. Clicking print loads the window for "See what's printing" with the file waiting to print - it just doesn't print. I have tried Windows troubleshooting and cmd commands to clear spooling. Its almost like the printer & computer don't see each other. I have tried to use a network cable/router combo and USB connection. No joy. What is even weirder is that this new 8560N printer replaced an existing 8560N printer (with USB) that finally gave it up. We need the PS setting to have more control on quality output. I have re-booted and started numerous times with no luck. I have probably loaded 30 printers in my past and right now I am stumped. I have googled all kinds of "solutions", and tried many of them. I have to be missing something basic. Any ideas?

Are you sure the printer supports PostScript? A lot of times companies will have a base model and then several different versions of that base model to add additional functions. Like the "N" usually means that it has an ethernet port for network printing. So are you sure yours supports PostScript? Just because it came with a PS driver doesn't mean the printer supports it. It just means some particular variation of that base printer supports PS and to save money the company just tossed all the drivers onto one disc for the customer to sort out.

First of all, thanks for your response as it gave me another avenue to check out. All of the documentation that I can find indicates that the Xerox 8560N does indeed support PS drivers. Upon research my model # is actually 8560N-5. The model number that was replaced was 8560N-4 which handled PS fine. Not sure on what the extra digit signifies or if that may be important...

I tried going back to square one, pulled out the instructions and went step-by-step with same results: loads basic driver and unable to load PS. Most frustrating series of events I have encountered in years.
