Trojans, spyware, etc.

What is the best software to catch even the slyest trojans,spyware,viruses?

There is no perfect fix.

Use a good antivirus, free is good. And use a backup like mbam and sas.
Nothing will completly protect you. The best protection is yourself.

I've lost count of how many times it's us when it comes to detecting the bad things. All the antivirus and such to date has yet to achieve a single app or suite that finds them all.

You may wonder why this is so I'll give you one fine(?) reason. A few years ago an antivirus company flagged some adware and the adware company went to court and won. So the rule today is that antivirus companies won't flag all the unwanted things.

This is where you come in.
