Got it. Can't seem to get rid of it. Found one set of instructions at trendmicro that I tried to use. They were confusing and didn't seem to match what I found (in Registry for example) did what I could and it didn't help.

Is there a fast easy way to do this (I can hope can't I?) are there better instructions somewhere? I'm moderately proficient and can manuever in the Registry without blowing things up.

I'm working on XP Pro Version 2002 with Service Pack 1 installed.

Description: The tool designed by Merijn to keep up with the prolific variations of the CoolWebSearch hijack. If you've been infected, it may seem near impossible to fix due to these complex variants. We will try and keep the most current version available here. There is an internal updater in the program that can check for and provide the most current version, as well. Updated February 22, 2004

go to

http://www.moosoft.com

download and run 'The Cleaner'

it is a shareware Trojan detector and eliminator, free for the first 30 days.

remember to disable your system restore before the scan and enable when done.

to get to system restore, right click on My Computer> Properties>System Restore> turn off system restore.
