Treo 600 crashing?

Dec 27, 2004 8:27PM PST

I've got a CDMA Treo 600 (Sprint), which I got last January. About four months ago, I started to have small problems with the device, mostly spontaneous reboots when loading web pages.

However, it's become much worse recently. For the past month or two, it locks up, especially when recieving or making a call. This seems to happen almost exclusively when the phone is below 50% battery level, and can be very frustrating when I recieve a call, push the "answer" button on screen, and get no response, eventually necessitating a reset.

I'm thinking maybe my battery is defective, something like that? Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Warranty?

Surely such an expensive device would have a year warranty? Let them exchange it.

Your Treo is just working fine!

Your treo 600 is just working fine. Try this solution:

1. Perform a hotsync operation to backup all your data
2. Perform a hard reset. Be sure you do a hard reset not a soft reset. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DO A HARD RESET? A hard reset is VERY DIFFERENT from a soft reset
3. Go to you c:\program files. Try to locate either Palm,Palmone,or Handspring. The location of this folder will really differ if you have previous palm devices before you got your treo 600.
4. After locating the folder, locate the username that you use for your treo 600.
5. Once you have found the username for your treo. Now, locate the BACKUP folder and renamed it.
6. Now, DO ANOTHER HOTSYNC!!!!
7. Observe your Phone.

If your phone will now work well, then the problem was related to one of the applications/softwares you installed into your treo. Do not attempt to install it again or you will experience the same problem! Got that?!

Third-party applications are not tested by Palmone. There are some software developers who say their product is compatible with palmone. But these products are not tested by palmone. Palmone could not provide technical support for this applications. What they can support is only the software that comes in the box when you bought your treo!

Me TOO

I have a Sprint 600 as well, and the last month or so I have had the same problem. Mine seems to be related to Signal strength although occasionally I have seen it happen with a strong signal. Not to mention that the signal seems to be very unreliable lately anyhow....

If anyone knows what is happening I would love to know.
