You can't use Comcast's SMTP server unless you are on their network. Don't waste your time trying to fix this one. The reason is simple. If the SMTP was usable outside their network, spammers would use it.
To send mail, you'll have to use the email server that Cingular tells you to use. Mail pickup from the POP3 (server) will be fine.
Cheers,
Bob
When trying to send email from my Treo 600 a message is received ''unable to log in to mail server.''
Have gone to account settings and tried changing SMTP to cingular from comcast, have changed passwords and then reverted to POP3. E-mail address has been verified. Some help message boards suggest changing port numbers. I don't know in what field they are located. I can receive mail fine. Cingular is my phone service and comcast is my internet and e-mail provider.
Thanks for any help.
