Having read the paeans of praise heaped upon it by CNET and others, I installed PC-cillin 12 on my Windows 98SE, IE6 system - only to have to take it off again after spending quite a bit of time making sure it was the culprit of the problem that emerged instantly: I got constant hard-drive chatter to the extent that it became impossible to run defrag or Norton disk doctor and, what's more, my default dial-up screen popped up every few minutes on top of whatever program I was running (all of them slightly more slowly than normal!).
I shan't be wasting any more time on it and shall continue to use Norton AV which I have now put back on.
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
