Traveling and in need of temporary storage

Jun 11, 2005 12:54AM PDT

I am traveling and looking for a temporary storage option. I love to take a ton of photos and usually just bring my laptop with me to download the photos but I am tired of lugging the laptop with me. Is there an option/devise that allows me to download my photos? Something smaller than a laptop but bigger than a 1GB card? I don't want to carry a bunch of cards with me.

EPSON P2000 or portable storage

I think that you need a portable storage ( 40-80GB hard-drive equipped with AA batteries ) . EPSON P2000 is one similar example, but quite expensive. There're many X-drive ( portable storage ) around. The latest model I just saw can load 1GB memory card in 2 minutes and reload upto 50GB before the batteries get drained out. Check out the nearby digital camera shop. Good luck.

forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between the Epson p2000 and the portable storage device you mentioned? (also any specific recommendations for the latter?)

many functions. The x drive is designed to download photos from a memory card to its hard drive. The Epson can display some of the photos; the x drive cannot. The Epson sells for around $500; the X Drive for around $90 plus a hard drive.
