Travel cameras... Which to buy?

I am backpacking around the world for the next year and have been researching compact cameras to purchase. Basically, i'm looking for one that has a decent zoom, a great battery life and great image quality. I currently own a Nikon D70 so I am familiar with manual settings, so this is desirable as well.
So far my search has come down to the canon s95 and the lumix tz10... thoughts on these?
Please suggest any cameras which you have had experience with!

Panasonic TZ10/ZS7

The TZ10 is the European version of the Panasonic ZS7.
