Transparent is the correct term certainly, but it's only applicable to gif's, as far as I know.

MS word 2002
I scanned a picture of a flower with a colored background and saved it as a .bmp image. I inserted that image to a Word 2002 document. I would like to set the colored background 'transparent' so that on the Word document, only the flower shows up: I selected the inserted image. At the picture tool bar, I used the 'set transparent color' tool and then clicked at the background color, but nothing happened. The background color remained. So - how do I make the color 'transparent' so that only the flower shows up ? The Word document has a colored patterned background.
