Question

transferring video to mac computer

I tried transferring video with usb, but to no avail. I finally got video transferred by using the SD card.
Now, when I play videos, some play fine, but others play fine for a short period of time and then stop and start.
How do I fix this?
All help would be greatly appreciated…...

If the whole file is transferred (did you check the file size?) the other thing to take into account is the format and the codec.
Not all players support all formats and all codecs. Maybe the maker of your camcorder has a player for the Mac. Did you check their site and their manual?

In reply to: Re: video

files and photos were not too large. Format was AVHD (?). Have not found manual. Will look again. Camera was Canon HFR600. First, I tried with usb and the camera monitor just showed usb connecting, but was black and nothing happened.

Try another player.

VLC Player is out for Apple computers so give that a whirl.

(NT) AVHD could be why. Try VLC PLAYER next.

Sounds like you're getting there...

AVCHD compressed video can be a bit of a computer resource hog - the symptom you report "play fine for a short period of time and then stop and start" typically tells me the computer is either underpowered to handle the AVHD video or the computer is busy doing other things.

We'll need more information from you to provide a better diagnosis.

Some of this will be a repeat of what others have said. Additional information from you would be useful:
1) Hardware: Which Mac? About how old is it?

2) Operating system: Is it up to date? Which version OS X (or MacOS) is it? In the upper left corner, under the Apple, select "About this Mac".

3) Video applications: What are you using to playback the video you transferred? QuickTime Player is bundled; VLC Player is 3rd party software and needs to be installed.

4) Do you only want to playback or do you need to edit?

Canon.com provides downloads for manuals in the support area. For your HF R600:
http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/1/0300017441/01/hfr60-62-600-im-n-en.pdf

You don't need the "Transfer Utility LE" software from Canon.
