Nothing has changed since about 1995. Programs still fail to move well. But files are usually a snap.

Hello,
I suppose this question is a basic one but I don't know the answer. I have an HP Pavillion with a 250 gig hard drive that has some bad sectors in the boot section. When I boot it I get freezing and a warning that the log on process has failed to create security options dialog with a red X. On a hard drive scan with Computer Doctor bad sectors show up. Sometimes it will boot so when that happens I don't shut the computer down and it runs OK. I surmised that the inevital will happen so I bought a new hard drive. Now the question! If I install the new drive and load windows and hook the old drive up as a slave can I clone the programs and files to the new drive from the old or do I have to reload everything from scratch?
Thanks
