I would see if VLC PLAYER will play it. I would use GSPOT codec appliance if VLC works to identify what codec was used.
If not, pack it up and return as defective.

I have a new Canon HG10, it is a hard-drive 40 gig HDD camcorder. The instructions say to connect the USB cable from the camcorder to computer. There is not a fire wire on the Camcorder. My computers all run Vista premium. We also have Adobe Premier and others.
Canon included a "backup utility cd" this worked and I have the backed up file on my computer now. It is a 8.5 gig file.
Here is the problem, we can not get any of the computers we have to play the video from the backup folder? We can not get Adobe Premier to see and play the files either.
We have several Canon GL2 DV tape pro camcorders and shoot successfully TV content and edit and transfer to computers no problem.
Is there anyone who can identify what I am missing? Im sure its something we just dont understand. Any guidence is appreciated.
