Hooking that drive up as an external USB drive to another system is perfect for copying your personal files such as documents, pictures, music and videos, as well as email folders if they were stored on that drive.
But Windows, (I assume you mean Windows), doesn't allow software to be transferred like that. All software has to be reinstalled from the original source, eg CD, downloaded setup files if they were saved, or whatever source it was.
