Question

Transfer fotos from WIN Vista to Win 10

Aug 3, 2017 10:04AM PDT

Kids bought me a new ASUS Notebook PC with WIN 10 and I want to transfer all my fotos stored on my old VISTA machine. Is this possible and what is the best way to do it?

A common way is to copy them to a USB stick on your old PC and copy them from that USB stick to your new PC. If you have more pics than fit on your USB stick, do it in parts or buy a larger stick.

Another common way is to copy them from your backup. It really makes sense to have a backup, just in case the hard disk they are stored on fails, or some virus or ransomware makes them inaccessible. If you don't yet have a backup, use a USB stick or an external hard drive to regularly make a copy of all that data to. Highly recommended.
Some people prefer the cloud to a stick or an external disk. That's your choice.

and copy the file to Onedrive and you can keep them there or move to the new PC.

Sure.

Or Dropbox, or Google Drive or any cloud storage service preferred. But, given the question, I doubt if the OP uses the cloud at the moment. Then a USB stick is easier for them. And it's faster than most home connections to the cloud.
