What are the file endings and what device you want to play them on? You may need to use a converter program.

Here's a Windows thing.

Let's take a .mpeg file and change the ending to .avi. For reasons, Windows will play it same as before on most PCs.

Do that on a device like a TV and it can refuse to see the file or play it.

The most common reason why.

Is the stick is in FAT32 format. This is a non-issue for most files.

But about playing on other devices. You'll have to reveal what format the stick is in as well as the device.

What confuses many is that many devices can't play files our PCs have no problem with. Why won't these play? The device is not as adept as our PCs.
