Transfer backup data from external HD to Vista Home Premium

Mar 2, 2007 6:10PM PST

I have been using Ghost 9 to backup my 5 year old Windows XP Home notebook to an external hard drive. Two weeks ago, this notebook became not useable. It needs, at minimum, a new $15 power adapter connector that would cost me $150 to install. Instead, I opted to get a new notebook with Vista Home Premium because I feared that the old notebook would become a bottomless pit of needed repairs in the future. I am now stuck in the position of not being able to transfer my files directly from the nonfunctioning old notebook AND not being able to transfer the data from the external HD because Ghost 9 is not compatable with Vista? Is there any way for me to get to my old files onto my new computer??
