Transfer addresses to Dell Axim X30

Apr 27, 2005 8:29PM PDT

I need to transfer an address book from my computer to a friend's Dell Axim, Contacts section. At the moment the address book is in Word processor format (Word Perfect), so presumably I would need to re-type it into something else. Can someone help with advice please? I have already tried typing a couple of contacts into an Excel file, I tried to drag it across to the Axim but it wouldn't have it.

I can't help. No mention of the application your contacts are in.

Why omit that clue?

Also, some systems have an Address book and a Contacts section. It's odd and frustruting to deal with such vagarities, but you have to reveal the basics in order to get great help.

As I said in my first message, the addresses at the moment are in Word Perfect Word processing format.

No.

No clik here tool exists. AFAIK, Word Perfect didn't have a contact manager.

If you can get them into Outlook, ActiveSync can do the rest.

Try putting it into Excel, save as the .CSV and have them import them into Outlook.

Oh great, thanks, I will try that. I knew I would have to retype them, but wanted to do it on the desktop. I have previously kept my friend's address book in wordperfect and printed it out on filofax pages for him, as he has a withered arm and cannot type easily, but the idea of trying to put all those addresses in directly on to the handheld with a small stick was appalling to say the least!
